A group of veterans and volunteers showed their service to the community doesn’t end with their line of duty.
United Veterans of Blount County put together a special Thanksgiving lunch for EMS crews, firefighters and law enforcement.
“We’re providing a Thanksgiving meal to those who are on duty during the hours of a Thanksgiving dinner,” said event co-organizer Mike Strickland.
The Strickland family enlisted in the help of multiple veteran organizations. Thirty people volunteered to make more than 100 meals.
“They are leading the way to serve and volunteer, so that’s all we can do is keep serving and moving forward with it,” said Strickland.
