NEWPORT BEACH, CA – PEAR Sports, creators of the PEAR Health & Fitness Platform that delivers targeted smart coaching technology, today announced it has partnered with LIVMOR to develop digital fitness and wellness training programs that produce better outcomes and experiences for those suffering from Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD).
LIVMOR, makers of the Halo+ Powered by Samsung medical-grade remote monitoring device, develops proprietary software solutions for wearable devices that continuously monitor the health and wellness of patients with chronic conditions. Together, LIVMOR and PEAR Sports will participate in a pilot study at the Dallas VA to serve Veterans with PAD.
According to the CDC, PAD affects about 8.5 million Americans, including 12-20% of individuals older than age 60. PAD also raises the odds of more severe health problems, like coronary artery disease, heart attack and stroke. A heart-healthy lifestyle, including exercise, diet and stress reduction has been shown to reduce the risks of heart disease and PAD.
“Fortunately, symptoms of PAD can be reduced and even eliminated with diet and exercise,” reports Ken Persen, Founder & CEO of LIVMOR. “This is the goal of the joint LIVMOR and PEAR Sports pilot study — to interpret patient data, create personalized, actionable health coaching exercises, and send them directly to the Veterans to help reduce their symptoms and increase their overall quality of life. We are working together with the goal of delivering specific video and audio instructions directly to patients on their prescribed Halo+ tablet.” Ken added, “This is a great opportunity to use tele-health to extend the services provided to the Veteran population.”
The LIVMOR Coaching Platform Powered by Pear will be part of the prescriptive LIVMOR Halo+ program, currently in clinical trials, that provides an elegant turnkey solution for continuous remote monitoring of PAD patients. The LIVMOR solution uses the first prescription-only smartwatch for accurate remote monitoring of heart rate, heart rate variability and activity.
This new digital coaching platform will deliver proactive wellness and exercise instructions targeted to improve patient results. The objectives of the pilot study, which is being performed in concert with the Dallas VA, are to monitor Veterans with PAD, and then provide custom and relevant fitness programs to reduce their symptoms and help them become healthier through proven exercise and wellness training.
“It is very rewarding to partner with a medical technology company like LIVMOR to provide digital wellness coaching solutions that will assist physicians and medical professionals in addressing chronic cardiovascular illness,” said Bob Allison, Founder of PEAR Sports. “We are particularly enthusiastic to work with LIVMOR to deliver engaging and effective exercise content to our Veteran population through the pilot study at the Dallas VA.
We know the symptoms of cardiovascular disease can be alleviated with appropriate exercise and wellness programs, and we look forward to improving the wellness journey for Veterans suffering from PAD.”
