Partisan politics has operated under the maxim that no matter which party wins the election, they replace the top leadership positions with their own people. New appointees exchange holdovers from the previous administration with loyalists who can be entrusted to organize the revamped policies, carry out to reforms of agencies and oversees personal selections in order to implement the direction of the winning party. The underlying premise is that the establishment attains an orderly transfer of power and has the means to reward their dedicated inner circle. But what happens to this model of sharing the loot when the elected candidate does not have the support of a substantial percentage of their own party?
The consequences that Donald Trump is faced with internal resistance from within the GOP are not normal for a party that won the presidency. Seen as a threat to the entrenched system of governmental dependency and corruption, President Trump has become the target for removal from office or neutralization if required. The evident responses from the power elite, who are accustomed to controlling the spoils of government, oppose any attempt to hold bureaucrats accountable.
The nature of this dilemma is addressed in Commentary Magazine by Daniel DiSalvo who writes in the article,Ā The Treason of the Bureaucrats.
“Todayās federal bureaucracy comprises roughly 2.7 million civilian employees and 1.5 million military personnel. Nearly 5,000 employees are appointed by the president. Almost all full-time, nonpolitical federal employees are hired under the civil-service system, which gives them substantial job protections. It can be nearly impossible to fire, demote, or suspend a career civil servant.
Federal workers and their unions are unquestioned allies of the Democratic Party. According to an analysis by the newspaper the Hill, federal workers from 14 agencies gave 95 percent of their campaign contributions to Hillary Clinton. About 15 percent of federal employees live in the greater Washington, D.C., area.
Bureaucratic obstruction of the new president thus plays right into the hands of those who want to reform the civil service. There is simply no way a populist insurgency like Trumpās will take the continual defiance of government employees lying down. And relatively affluent, well-educated federal employees are not exactly a sympathetic group in a country skeptical of government.”
Sadly, Trump is not winning the war against the Federal despots. The actual extent of the betrayal of the American public by theĀ ‘hired help’Ā who draw their salaries from the treasury have continued unabated going back to FDR. Elections have not proved to be a pressure release to blow off the toxic gas that covers society. Switching between the parties just allows for real estate prices to rise inside the Beltway, as careerists cash out after a long tenure of doing damage.
So whenĀ Federal bureaucrats becoming more willing to defy Trump, it is explained as the inevitable response to anyone who challenges the hegemony of empire.
“The HillĀ is reporting that some federal workers are becoming increasingly willing to criticize or defy the policy initiatives of Trump appointees.
A handful of current and former career staffers in the Interior Department and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have openly shredded their superiors within the last several weeks, continuing a trend that has developed throughout the government over the course of Trumpās tenure in the Oval Office.
The growing opposition in the executive branch comes as the White Houseās legislative agenda has stalled in Congress and Trump turns to his Cabinet agencies to change course in several policy areas. It also is emanating from career staffers or political holdovers whose resistance to Trump has, at times, been rooted in deep opposition to the presidentās agenda.”
The legacy of the rebellion against Trump’s agenda is founded upon the misdeeds of the very government that he was elected to strip of their power. When the corporate state and the comrade fellow travelers join together to eradicate a true America First ideology, the ugly head of the quislings within our own government are exposed for the traitors they have become.
Even more regrettable is the apathy of the gullible citizens who place an undeserving faith in a political syndicate that claims falsely as being legitimate because of their rigged voting charade. If Trump was not betrayed and was able to fill the slots in the bureaucratic agencies, federal courts and in his own White House staff; turning the corner towards a rightful regime could be possible.
JD Heyes makes the point in his essay,Ā Trump finally uses the word āTREASONā to describe the Deep State coup attempt against himĀ that is ignored by the media and snubbed by the public.
“Once it became crystal clear that theĀ Deep StateĀ operatives loyal to Barack Obama and to the preservation of the Washington political establishment had conspired against POTUS Donald Trump in an unprecedented attempt to remove him from office,Ā we began using the āTā word to describe their behavior.
Now that the president has used the T-word to describe the Deep State coup attempt against him, itās time for AG Barr to prosecute them all for what they tried to do.”
To skeptics who doubt that the country will see a long line of prosecutions anytime soon, the logical question is why hasn’t Trump cleaned house at the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation? If there was ever a circumstance for appointing a band of firebrands against the establishment, it is under a Trump administration.
One important step in this direction is to limit lawyers in positions of authority and install experienced businessmen in the mold of Trump to carry out his program of transformation. If you wake up the day that Donald Trump leaves office knowing that very little was accomplished to drain the swamp, do not place the primary blame on the President. Sure he has his share of mistakes, but the nature of the Federal hydra is that of a destroyer of worlds.
