Veterans give Houston VA earful at town hall meeting

Houston veterans voiced their complaints – and satisfaction – with the Veteran Affairs Houston Medical Center Wednesday at a town hall meeting.

Customer service, availability of services and long wait times for appointments dominated the two-hour meeting, but the beleaguered VA also drew some praise from more than two dozen  veterans who attended.

Veteran William Hamilton said he was concerned with long wait times to schedule appointments, considering there is a lack of primary care providers in Veteran Affairs.

“I contacted my [provider] only to find out that she’s no longer with the VA,” Hamilton said. “I’m here to know if I have to wait an extremely long time to see my podiatrist.”
