V.A. TOP LAWYER SAYS AGENCY “DOESN’T HAVE LEGAL AUTHORITY TO RECOVER THE MONEY” – DIANA RUBENS AND KIMBERLY GRAVES LAUGH ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK – PAPERWORK “SNAFU” HOLDS UP THEIR TRANSFERS AND DEMOTIONS FOR FRAUD
There has to be a hot place in hell reserved for those who get rich on the backs of our nation’s sick and disabled veterans.
The latest outrage to take place under the inept “leadership” of West Point ring-knocker Robert McDonald is the Veterans Administration’s decision not to recoup more than $400,000 in bogus “travel expenses” handed out to two pigs who masquerade as V.A. regional directors.
We’re talking about Diana Rubens, disgraced Philadelphia V.A. boss and her female pal, Kimberly Graves, who was transferred to St. Paul, Minn. Rubens scored $288,000 in so-called “moving expenses” – a distance of about 140 miles – while Graves grabbed up $130,000 for her travel to the land of a thousand lakes.
HICKEY BAILS OUT JUST IN TIME
Be sure to read our Related Stories below to see how recently-resigned Under Secretary for Benefits, Allison Hickey, “took care of” the greedy bureaucrats. Hickey, a retired Air Force brigadier general, and AFA graduate was already flush with cash before she landed her high-paying V.A. position.
For the record, Rubens currently makes a $181,000 annual salary, while Graves hauls down a paltry $174,000 a year. The good people that empty the bedpans and push brooms in our V.A. hospitals will be thrilled to learn that.
When Hickey’s obscene largesse for the openly-lesbian Rubens – she lives with her GS-7 quickly promoted all the way to GS-15, “lover” – was discovered, Congressman Jeff Miller demanded answers.
THANK GOD FOR CONGRESSMAN MILLER
The Florida Republican and chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee wanted to have Rubens and Graves offer testimony under oath and penalty of perjury. While McDonald looked the other way, both V.A., and bosses refused to appear and had to be issued subpoenas.
Then they clammed up, doing gangster imitations as they repeatedly cited the 5th Amendment, claiming they did not want to “incriminate” themselves. An angry Miller said: “Rubens and Graves clearly should have been fired. The fact that V.A. leaders have so far failed to do so, gives me no hope the department will do the right thing and take steps to recoup the more than $400,000 in taxpayer dollars both women fraudulently received.
“If the V.A. is ever going to reform itself to an organization worthy of the veterans it is charged with serving, it cannot tolerate corruption within its ranks. Yet, that’s exactly what the department did.”
Glenn McBride (of www.veteransoutreach.info) echoes Miller’s sentiments and tell us a nest of man-hating, highly-placed lesbians are “milking the V.A. for all they can get.” The veterans-rights crusader says the sexual identity of these harpies enables them to steal and pad their pockets with impunity.”
CROOKS GET THE LAST LAUGH ON VETS
Now, to add insult to injury, we are told that McDonald may not even administer the slap-on-the-wrist he spoke of when this story first broke.
It seems the clever V.A. legal staff are using a “paperwork glitch” to delay or postpone administering the ludicrous one-grade reduction supposedly to be meted out to the arrogant Rubens and her crony, Kimberly Graves.
And to top off the ineptitude, or downright criminality, these grifters are not only celebrating keeping the $400,000 in “travel expenses,” but will also score big bucks for their transfer moves, if and when that happens.
You can see why Rubens and Graves are laughing all the way to the bank.
