Walsh is the organizer of the annual High Country Charity Golf Outing at Pinewood Country Club in Munds Park, which raised more than $106,738 this year — pretty impressive for fundraiser that is in only its fifth year.
“The first year we raised $18,000,” Walsh said. “It’s really a testament to the generosity of the community.”
More than $11,220 from the fundraiser has been earmarked for the Military Order of the Purple Heart. The remainder will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Wounded Warrior Project raises funds and provides support for returning veterans who may be physically or
mentally injured and their families. The programs include helping veterans and their families to navigate military benefits programs, respite care for families with injured veterans, care packages for service members in the hospital and information on local programs that can help with mental or physical health and finances.
