New program to help veterans

Northeastern Minnesota veterans sacrificed a lot to serve their country and to preserve everyone’s freedoms.

Now a new transportation program will provide help for those veterans who did so much for others.

The Northeast Veterans Transportation Program will offer free rides to any veteran traveling to a VA scheduled appointment. Officials are hoping to have the program up and running sometime this summer.

The program is a partnership of the Disabled American Veterans of Minnesota, St. Louis, hire vetsLake, Carlton and Cook County Veteran Services Offices, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, Minneapolis VA Medical Center and area veteran service organizations.
