The camouflage binder in Larry Church’s hand fit the sunny conference room scene at the Hagerty Conference Center.
Church recently attended Jobs for Vets, a hiring fair for veterans held by Northwestern Michigan College, Northwest Michigan Works and Bill Marsh Automotive Group. Church, who has 20 years of credible service in the Army and National Guard, recently was laid off from his job at a machine shop and is seeking new work.
“Opportunities are somewhat limited, but they’re out there,” Church said.
David Dunckel stood across the room from Church, posted behind the red ROUSH Enterprises booth, determined to reach out to veterans in search of work.
Dunckel is ROUSH’s Veterans Initiatives Manager. The Livonia company committed to hiring 30 veterans between May 2014 to May this year. It already has hired 102.
