A bill sponsored by a Midland lawmaker would assign Michigan’s recently-created Veterans Affairs Agency the duty of sending “welcome home” letters to U.S. military veterans returning home from tours of duty.

State Sen. Jim Stamas, R-Midland, spoke in support of the bill Thursday, Feb. 26, before it was ultimately approved by the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs and Homeland Security Committee.
