STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — During the month of November, Borough President James S. Oddo will show his support of veterans by presenting three events in honor of Veteran’s Day.

On Wednesday at 11 a.m., there will be an opening reception for a new art show, “Veteran Art Now: A Retrospective of the American Veteran,” by Veterans of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System. The show will be open at Borough Hall through Dec. 3, during business hours.
A free workshop, “Acing the Interview,” will be held Nov. 7Â at WorkForce1 Center, on the third floor of 120 Stuyvesant Place, St. George. Presented by Peter Romano, USMC, the workshop will cover resume-writing and job-hunting tips, and will include a class on how to master job interviews. The event is open to all Staten Island veterans and their spouses.
Another free workshop, presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs on Nov. 14, will focus on applying for and using benefits, other benefits issues and homeless services. The workshop will be held at Borough Hall in Room 122, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be followed by a Q&A session and time for one-on-one support.
“Our veterans who so bravely served our country deserve our support,” said Oddo. “I am committed to helping all veterans, including those from the ‘Greatest Generation’ who fought in World War II and Korea, our brave Vietnam Vets, who have never received the honor for their service they deserve, and those who have served in more recent times in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
